Nam Moon Korean BBQ 南门 @ Taman Pelangi, Johor Bharu

Nam Moon Korean BBQ 南门 @ Taman Pelangi, Johor Bharu

Lately, everything in Korean style are in vogue, Korean culture has landed in Malaysia in many aspects, from drama to fashion and definitely Korean cuisine. To blend ourselves into the Korean trend, we decided to have Korean Cuisine for lunch and Nam Moon, being one of the established Korean restaurants in Johor Bahru was our choice.

Nam Moon BBQ Restaurant is situated in Taman Pelangi, same row with Alliance Bank. The walkway in front of the restaurant is decorated with the flower arch, attempting to create the Korean garden style, but the flowers were obviously not thick enough (laughed out loud). Anyway, give them a big hand for their efforts.

We order for a set meal for two pax, it was only RM 95. It consists of pork belly, pork shoulder, miso soup, seafood pancake. With the set meal, the side dishes are refillable. We were told that the side dishes are not refillable if you are going for their value set lunch, but their variety is great, even one round of side dishes has sufficiently fed two of us.

Barbeque in the process. The pork belly and pork shoulder were marbling with the fat, which is sufficient for the barbeque process and no additional lard is needed.

A family photo of the set meal.

Miso Soup 味增汤
For me who does not like spicy, Miso soup is a better choice than Kimchi soup. I really enjoy the soup.
Seafood Pancake 海鲜煎饼
Their seafood pancake was cut into eight pieces. It was delicious too, where the outer was pan-fried to crispy, but the texture was springy. But, the portion is really too huge for two of us, ended we taking away more than half of it home as supper.

Overall, it is quite a worthy meal and we trust the portion above can actually feed up to 4 pax if you are not a big eater.

Naughty Nuri's Warung @ Taman Sri Tebrau, Johor Bharu

Naughty Nuri's Warung @ Taman Sri Tebrau, Johor Bharu

Finally, the Bali's branded grilled pork rib has landed in Johor Bahru, being the third branch in Malaysia following its set up in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Just a brief introduction on Naughty Nuri's Warung, it is a famous bar and grill from Bali with their signature Nuri's special pork ribs which pair best with their famous Shake Shake Martini. From its name, we knew that its operation in Bali started as a "warung (roadside stall)" and over the years, it has gained its reputation and becomes a point of attraction for tourists from various countries. Just like its other branches in Malaysia, Naughty Nuri's Warung in Johor Bahru has replicated the setting in Bali with the wooden traits in the restaurant and the artistic sculpture, no photos were taken on the environment, so you may pay a visit to the restaurant to experience the atmosphere of Bali.

Naughty Nuri's Warung Johor Bahru is occupying the first corner unit at Jalan Serampang, which can be easily seen immediately after your turning into Jalan Serampang. With its significant red wall, it is not too hard to be identified.

The grill kitchen is just behind the transparent glass, which allow the diners to witness the process of making the famous pork rib.

Nuri's Famous Pork Ribs  RM45
The Pork Ribs were char-grilled to its perfection and the marination performed its role very well to enable the pork ribs absorb with the essence of the Balinese spices. The portion is good for 2 to share if you want to check out for more dishes. The meat was tender and juicy, which was easily torn apart. The pork rib was also served with the sweet and peppery sauce which provides additional kicks.

Balinese Seafood Nasi Goreng  RM20
To add variety to our dinner, we also ordered the Balinese Seafood Nasi Goreng. which served with ikan bilis, crackers and their special green sambal. Although the portion is rather small, but they are not sloppy in the ingredients used, there were various seafood hidden within the fried rice, such as prawn and squid. The fried rice turned out to be surprisingly good, especially eat with the green sambal.

We will definitely come back again for their Shake Shake Martini, which we missed out this round. Hope to enjoy the martini shaken in front of us very soon.
