Master Xu Taiwanese Cafe 徐師傅台灣小吃 @ Taman Maju Jaya, JB

Master Xu Taiwanese Cafe 徐師傅台灣小吃  @ Taman Maju Jaya, JB

It is really not much choices in Johor Bahru if you are craving for Taiwanese cuisine, especially the authentic ones. Master Xu is one of the outstanding Taiwanese restaurant among the few, which offers authentic Taiwanese dishes, ranging from street snacks, set meals and stir-fired dishes (小炒), desserts and milk tea.
Braised Pork Rice Set Meal  卤肉饭套餐
We ordered the signature braised pork rice, which patrons may opt for the ala carte braised pork rice or the set meal with a portion of cabbage and soup. The braised pork rice is indeed a good one, the round and the saturated Japanese pearl rice, topped with the flavourful and savoury minced meat. It may look plain and dull, but every single rice in the bowl actually absorbed the braised gravy to its fullest, and it is further complemented by the braised egg, which is very tasty too.
Korean Style Pork Set Meal 韩式猪肉套餐
Other than Taiwanese cuisine, Master Xu also provides fusion dishes, including this Korean Style Pork on Sizzling Plate which is one of the best sellers. Although it is named as Korean Style Pork Set, it is still very much inclined to Taiwanese flavour, mostly because the seasoning with rice wine. To make the set meal more abundant, a small steamboat is served together. This is the set meal that really warm our stomach and heart!
Green Tea 绿盖茶
The top of green tea covered with a layer of bubble make from salted yogurt. Taste great and refreshing. To ensure that the patrons enjoy the bubble green tea like a typical Taiwanese, we were told by the waitress that no straw will be served for this drink. The tea is to be drank from the top to enjoy the smooth foam first, and later the refreshing and fragrant jasmine green tea.

Oyster Omelette  台式蚝煎
The Taiwanese style Oyster Omelette is quite different from our street food, not only from its appearance, but also the cooking method and the ingredient used where Taiwanese favourite basil is used in this dish too. We were advised to eat this while hot, as the texture of the omelette is quite dense, it won't taste good when it turns cold.

The Taiwanese crystal glutinous rice ball is recommended by the waitress, which is specially served during winter solstice and cannot be found in the normal menu. It turned out surprisingly good although not served in ginger tea the typical Malaysian flavour. The glutinous rice balls have two layers, the skin is crystal clear where you can see through its content. I could not tell what is the filling that they used, but all in all, it tastes really good, especially the springy texture of the balls.
