Restoran Mana Lagi Nasi Lemak @ Taman Perling, Johor Bahru
Random thought on my mind to have Nasi Lemak, is that a norm for food blogger to always have some food on mind? It was an coincident that I found this ancient Nasi Lemak stall, during my last visit to Perling for Penang foods, never know Perling is such a food paradise. The restaurant has operated since long time ago, near to residential area, and thus becomes a good place for supper. Although it was operated by Malay, but it is interesting that most of their customer are non-malay. According to my experience (cheh, sounds like I am very expert, lol), most of nasi lemak ingredient are the same, eggs, cucumber, ikan bilis and kacang, sometimes you can add on with fried chicken or rendang, simple yet popular among Malaysian. As display on their signboard, besides its nasi lemak, it is also famous with its special fried chicken (ayam goreng istimewa), so special it can be? Let's check it out.
When the hot fried chicken came out from the kitchen, the restaurant suddenly become very crowded, queuing up to get their fried chicken. Most of them took more than a piece, makes me so curious and decided to join the queue. I took 2 pieces of fried chicken to go with my nasi lemak.
Nasi Lemak Ayam RM7.40 |
The crowd caused my high expectation on the fried chicken, but the chicken turned out not so flavourful as I thought. I am not sure whether I am so bad luck to get the wrong part without proper marination. But the maybe people come after its tenderness and juiciness. The rice is just on the average. The hot red sambal at the corner there reflects its spiciness.Luckily I had my teh oh limau ais to dampen the hot and spicy.
I simply understand that the foods here are overpriced. A piece of fried chicken is RM2.80 and for a plate of plain Nasi Lemak with timun and boiled egg costs me another RM1.80. So this plate of nasi lemak caused a total damage of RM7.40. Even in KL, I can simply get a plate of Nasi Lemak with a sunny egg and fried chicken at RM5.
