Penang One @ Bandar Puteri, Puchong

Penang One @ Bandar Puteri, Puchong

Quite some time not back to my hometown, the paradise of food. I was started to miss and craving for the foods there, Penang styled curry mee with coagulated blood, duck egg char kuey teow, Penang laksa and Loh Bak. But somehow I found difficulty in looking good and authentic Penang foods in Kuala Lumpur.

Until one day I did blog-walking as usual, I found many peoples were shouting for this Penang One in Puchong. I decided to give it a try!
Easy to catch people's attention by its sharp colours.
The interior design of the cafe. The owner creatively decorates the wall with Street names of those famous foods originated from. The owner claims that all the foods are imported from Penang daily, to retain the true flavour!
The cafe is crowded during lunch hour! Full house, I have to queue up and wait to be seated.
(front) Soya Bean Milk Ice  豆奶  RM3.50
(back) Hong Kong Milk Tea Ice 港式奶茶  RM4.50
Siya Bean Milk Ice is quite normal I would say. But the Hong Kong Milk Tea is nice, with the strong tea fragrance. Unlike those bubble milk tea, this HK milk tea comes with appropriate sweetness.
Yam Cake 芋头糕  RM5
The yam cake is soft yet springy, the yam is milled till very fine, makes the texture of the yam cake very smooth. The crushed peanut and dried shrimps on the top enhance the crunchiness. The yam cakes is nice to eat with the black sweet sauce.
Hokkien Dumpling 福建肉粽  RM5.50
Dumplings festival is approaching, this Hokkien Dumpling reminds me my mum's homemade dumplings!
Loh Bak 五香  RM11.90
The taste of the loh bak is almost the same to the Penang one! Crispy and nice to dip it with the chilies sauce or gravy.  Even the thick and sticky gravy is the same.
Duck Egg Chay Koay Teow 鸭蛋炒粿条  RM9.90
Despite the portion is rather small, but a plate of authentic duck egg char koay teow definitely satisfies my taste bud. Fresh and big prawns added, thumbs up!
Curry Mee 特色咖哩面  RM8.50
This is the food I miss the most. Hard to get curry mee with coagulated blood in KL. The fragrance from coconut milk, long beans, tau bok, everything is like in Penang.
Hokkien Mee  北马福建面  RM7.90
Hokkien Mee means prawn noodles in Penang, where most of the people from middle and south Malaysia cannot understand. Ingredients they used are exactly the same with Penang styled Hokkien Mee. I must praise their pork ribs, very soft and flavourful.
