Hoi Lau Shan Healthy Dessert 許留山 @ One Utama Shopping Mall, PJ

Hoi Lau Shan Healthy Dessert 許留山 @ One Utama Shopping Mall, PJ

A very famous dessert stall in Hong Kong where is a must visit shop for everyone travel to Hong Kong. This is a fact that I saw most of my friends marked this place as part of their travel plan. Now, a good news is that the famous Hoi Lau Shan Dessert is actually landed at Malaysia quite recently and their first branch is located at One Utama, so near to my place!
I personally not been Hong Kong before, and it really bring me a good news since I no need to travel far just to taste the dessert, save cost and time. Right at the moment, I tasted out partially of their Malaysia outlet menu. According to a food blogger who went Hong Kong before, the dessert only have 60% similarity taste compare to Hong Kong local taste. Anyway for me, this dessert is very good since I do not know how exactly the dessert in Hong Kong tastes like.
The menu of HUI LAU SHAN 许留山. I check through their website and compare back with Malaysia menu. I found that they are bringing in almost everything of their signature menu from Hong Kong to Malaysia. Seems to be great thing!
Pomelo Icy Sago 柚子西米捞
 RM7.90 per bowl
Pomelo Icy Sago without Pomelo was really a sad case to said. Although they do not have Pomelo on the top, but the taste remain good as normal one, very refreshing with the fresh fruity balls added. I would say the texture will be better if Pomelo is added. Why no pomelo?? The principle of "early birds catch the worm" applies.
Pomelo Icy Sago (Watermelon) 柚子西米捞 (西瓜)
 RM7.90 per bowl
Pomelo Icy Sago (Honeydew Melon) 柚子西米捞 (蜜瓜)
 RM7.90 per bowl
Pomelo Icy Sago (Cantaloupe) 柚子西米捞 (哈蜜瓜)
 RM7.90 per bowl
Pomelo Icy Sago (Coconut) 柚子西米捞 (椰汁)
 RM7.90 per bowl
Mango Icy Sago 多芒西米露  RM9.90
Hong Kong's mango it said to be sweeter and more juicy as compared to local mango. Well.. Almost every dessert which I tasted has mango inside and surprisingly all the mangos were taste sweeter then I expected. I started to miss the aroma of mango!
Bird's Nest Mango Pudding 燕窝布丁  RM11.90
The price is quite reasonable to have bird's nest on the top of the dessert. I bet girls should go for this as this dessert is very healthy and nourishing, good for skin indeed.
Silky Mango Pudding 香滑芒果布丁  RM4.90
Looks nothing special, but never judge a book by its cover ya. It is silky smooth with a fabulous mango aroma.

Triple Mango Delight 芒果神冰  RM9.90
The triple enjoyment of the mango on the same cup. It consists of mango pudding, mango ice cream and fresh mango flesh,  which provides different level of sweetness.

Mango Icy Crystal Jeli 多芒亮晶晶  RM9.90

Supreme Coconut Stewed Bird's Nest with Harsmar
燕窝椰皇炖雪蛤
RM22.90
The king dessert of the night, the most expensive stuff in the menu. A great idea to stew the bird's nest and harsmar in coconut, provides the dessert with a hint of coconut!
Super Mango Mania In Coconut Juice - Red Bean
超多芒红豆 RM7.90
Mango Cube & Mango Juice - Mango Jeli
粒粒芒果爽  RM8.90
After I drink a cup of this, I can feel my mouth nourishing with all very concentrate of mango paste. Yummy!
Signature Curry Combo 咖哩什锦  RM7.90
I felt this was nothing impressed to me. The fish ball was rather chewy and the bean-curd was juicy. But something disappointing me was that curry was slightly plain and lacking of curry taste.
Last but not least, this is the only group photo shoot for the desserts on our table that night. It was so so surprise for us to be able to finish all these desserts in couple minutes. To me, all the dessert was look tempting and seduce me to slurp them instantly.

*Remark : For some items are really fast-selling, so better be there before lunch to avoid any disappointment.

Menya Musashi 麺屋武蔵 @ Isetan, 1 Utama Shopping Center, PJ

Menya Musashi 麺屋武蔵 @ Isetan, 1 Utama Shopping Center, PJ

The times was flying really fast as I'm only realized that this foodies gathering was happened just like yesterday, but in fact it was few months ago and I only posted it up by tonight! It was just after ISETAN 1 Utama Grand Opening when I visit to this little stall inside ISETAN. Yeah, for my reader's benefit, I am going to discover this new area of food in ISETAN. I was quite impressed because this little stall was crowded and packed  and have to take a queue number to proceed to our seat, but the turnover of customer was fast. Glad that I did not need to wait too long for that.
Menya Musashi is one of Tokyo’s best-loved ramen chains, and its founder Takeshi Yamadais often considered in the same league as Ippudo’s Shigemi Kawahara and Nantsuttei’s Ichiro Furuya. The shop is named after Musashi Miyamoto, one of Japan’s most legendary and revered warriors – he who famously wrote “The Book of Five Rings”. Illustrations of samurai with swords drawn can be plastered tastefully around the shop. Taken from cumidanciki
You can easily feel the strong of "Ninja" spirit while sitting in the shop with all kind of "Ninja" decor.
A wallpaper with Ninja and the side corner seat. It reminds me my childhood with those interesting Japanese comics!
Master Chef Daisuke Yamaguchi
I was surprised that even their Master Chef looks like a character come from comic. It was so lucky that I've my chance to catch the master chef in person while he was in-charge of the whole restaurant operation that time.
Condiments to go with my Ramen later-- chili grinder and some chili oil on table.

SNACKS
Gyoza 饺子  RM9
The Gyoza's skin was slightly burnt but it is crispy, and goodness when it meets with the juicy meat filling in the Gyoza!
Ajitama  RM 2 per egg
I love the braised egg, the egg yolk was watery and fully capture my taste.

GOHAN
Chashu Gohan  RM9
Takana Gohan  RM7
RAMEN
For the Ramen itself, you can pick either one of the oils of your choice--Onion Flavored Oil (Shiro), Special Oil Combined of Fried Shallots and Garlic Oil (Kuro) or Homemade Musashi Chili Oil (Aka). I strongly recommend to taste their homemade musashi chili oil, don't get frightening by the name, it is very flavorful and not too spicy as it is named.
Shiro Chashu Men  RM30

Shiro is added into the broth, however, the taste is not too strong and did not take over the shine of the original broth. The light fragrance of Shiro allows me to taste the true flavour of the original soup based. It also served with a giant piece of chashu, covering the surface of bowl, so tempting!
Aka Chashu Men  RM30
Aka flavoured chashu ramen, again with the sumptuous giant pieces of chashu. It is a very appetizing one, credited to the aka which furnishes the ramen with some mild spiciness.
Kuro Chashu Men  RM30
The soup based with kuro is not too thick as I thought, it is rather plain with some hint of sesame.
A huge piece of Chashu is served with ramen, which I believe the size cannot get beaten down by any other ramen shop. If you want a large Chashu on your ramen, definitely you need to come here. Satisfactory!
Aka Ajitama Ramen  RM24
TSUKEMEN
There was a gentle reminder teaching us on how to eat Tsukemen :
1) Decide your ideal serving size and place your order.
- Serving size for noodles from Naminori (1 serving), Chumori (1.5 serving), Omori (2 serving) or Tokumori (2.5 serving)
Important : all the serving size of noodles are the same price as state on menu.
2) Dip the noodles into the bowl of thick soup.
3) Slurp up the noodles from the bowl of thick soup.
Chashu Tsukemen  RM31
I do prefer to eat this dry ramen. It allowed me to taste their imported ramen in better way. Although the thick soup was extremely salty, but it just perfectly matched with the plain ramen.
See how the ramen texture seducing my whole night! lol
They really put an effort on their ramen shop decor, even inside the bowl have the samurai! You only will get  the whole picture after you finish slurp the whole bowl of noodles!!
I strongly believe that EAT paradise will be soon a most happening area in One Utama, because you can find all traditional Japanese foods inside here. I will visit One Utama more often to taste the real and authentic flavour from Japan.

Penang One @ Bandar Puteri, Puchong

Penang One @ Bandar Puteri, Puchong

Quite some time not back to my hometown, the paradise of food. I was started to miss and craving for the foods there, Penang styled curry mee with coagulated blood, duck egg char kuey teow, Penang laksa and Loh Bak. But somehow I found difficulty in looking good and authentic Penang foods in Kuala Lumpur.

Until one day I did blog-walking as usual, I found many peoples were shouting for this Penang One in Puchong. I decided to give it a try!
Easy to catch people's attention by its sharp colours.
The interior design of the cafe. The owner creatively decorates the wall with Street names of those famous foods originated from. The owner claims that all the foods are imported from Penang daily, to retain the true flavour!
The cafe is crowded during lunch hour! Full house, I have to queue up and wait to be seated.
(front) Soya Bean Milk Ice  豆奶  RM3.50
(back) Hong Kong Milk Tea Ice 港式奶茶  RM4.50
Siya Bean Milk Ice is quite normal I would say. But the Hong Kong Milk Tea is nice, with the strong tea fragrance. Unlike those bubble milk tea, this HK milk tea comes with appropriate sweetness.
Yam Cake 芋头糕  RM5
The yam cake is soft yet springy, the yam is milled till very fine, makes the texture of the yam cake very smooth. The crushed peanut and dried shrimps on the top enhance the crunchiness. The yam cakes is nice to eat with the black sweet sauce.
Hokkien Dumpling 福建肉粽  RM5.50
Dumplings festival is approaching, this Hokkien Dumpling reminds me my mum's homemade dumplings!
Loh Bak 五香  RM11.90
The taste of the loh bak is almost the same to the Penang one! Crispy and nice to dip it with the chilies sauce or gravy.  Even the thick and sticky gravy is the same.
Duck Egg Chay Koay Teow 鸭蛋炒粿条  RM9.90
Despite the portion is rather small, but a plate of authentic duck egg char koay teow definitely satisfies my taste bud. Fresh and big prawns added, thumbs up!
Curry Mee 特色咖哩面  RM8.50
This is the food I miss the most. Hard to get curry mee with coagulated blood in KL. The fragrance from coconut milk, long beans, tau bok, everything is like in Penang.
Hokkien Mee  北马福建面  RM7.90
Hokkien Mee means prawn noodles in Penang, where most of the people from middle and south Malaysia cannot understand. Ingredients they used are exactly the same with Penang styled Hokkien Mee. I must praise their pork ribs, very soft and flavourful.

Antipodean Cafe @ Bangsar, KL

Antipodean Cafe @ Bangsar, KL

Woke up late on Saturday morning is a normal practice. So I decided to bring my two VIP friends form Singapore to find late breakfast in town. Antipodean Cafe which located nearby Bangsar Village is famous with their All Day Breakfast. I decided to give it a try. Reached there after lunch hour, but surprisingly it was still crowded.

Antipodean is a Kiwi/Australian style of cafe serving the best quality coffee (Flatwhites, Picolo's, shortblacks) and food to the hungry and thirsty expatriates of Jakarta. They roast, bake and cook everything we sell!

Antipodean - pronounced "an·tip·o·de·an" (adj)means (1) coming from or relating to Australia or New Zealand (2) Ancient Greek: anti "opposed" pous "foot" opposite points on the globe
The cafe was still crowded although it was already 3pm in the afternoon. The seating  in outdoor or indoor are equally good. I prefer outdoor seat, enjoy the fresh air and showered by the sunshine, while enjoying a cup of nice coffee.
The interior design of Antipodean Cafe. The sharp red colour reflects the western passionate's culture. The business was too good, renders the shop looks packed. Do you notice that most peoples looking to the right side of the shop? Wonder why are they looking to the right?
The answer: ya, this cafe does not provide a menu in book. All the foods and beverages are display on the board on the wall. So everyone has to refer to the wall to place their order. I know it is creative and environmental friendly by saving trees, but still I found little bit inconvenient. How do you think?
The beverage and dessert bar.
The kids' playground. So parents can fully enjoy their meal here.
Cappuccino  RM9
A nice coffee is a must when you make a visit to Antipodean Cafe. I am not sure the coffee beans they used, but I am just addicted to the fragrance of it.
Smoked Salmon, roast vegetable & chickpeas salad  RM25
The smoked salmon was good, fresh and not too salty, by squeezing a little bit lemon on it, enhance the flavour. The cheese mixed well with the roast vegetables too.
All Day Breakfast  RM18
come with toast, pork sausages, baked beans, scrambled egg, grilled tomato's

The breakfast set is quite ordinary. However, this is the place that you can eat "breakfast" all day long whenever you craving for breakfast. Yeah, even you wake up at 3pm in the afternoon, you still can find your brunch here.
Grilled Chicken with tomatoes, green beans & balsamic vinegar  RM18
The chicken is well grilled and smooth, goes excellent with the seasoning of balsamic vinegar. This dish is quite suitable for me to keep fit I think, with a big portion of tomatoes and green beans. A very healthy meal indeed.
Morrocan Beef Kabap with Golden Couscous  RM20
The beef kabap is delicious, very flavourful. But I was not really in favour with the golden couscous, the spices is too excessive for me.
Lemon Merinque Pie
The meal ended with a nice pie from Antipodean. It looks fluffy and it tastes fluffy too, with little fragrance of lemon, wash away the fat accumulated from the heavy meal.

Overall, Antipodean Cafe left me a quite good impression with their good service. The foods are not so pricey too although it is located at Bangsar. Worth for give it a try. However, parking is a big problem during weekends and peak hours. So be wise in choosing time.
