Paradise Dynasty 乐天皇朝 @ Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya, PJ

Paradise Dynasty 乐天皇朝 @ Paradigm Mall, Kelana Jaya

Paradise Dynasty 乐天皇朝 is another culinary concept by Singapore-based Paradise Group that offers an exquisite yet affordable selection of northern and southern Chinese cuisine, inspired by the array of food in the different provinces across China encountered during the frequent travels of Eldwin Chua, CEO of Paradise Group.

Malaysians need no longer head south and across the Causeway to savor Paradise Dynasty’s legendary World’s First eight flavors Xiao Long Bao, as it now in Malaysia at Paradigm Shopping Mall, Kelana Jaya
“The concept of Paradise Dynasty is to bring to our customers the finer points of a bygone era’s cuisine,” said Elyna Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Paradise (F&B) Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the Malaysia subsidiary of parent company Paradise Holdings Group Pte Ltd. “Our dishes are exemplary of the fineness of Chinese cuisine.”
Located right beside the main entrance of Paradise Dynasty is the open kitchen where passers-by will have the opportunity to see the chefs at work, making the fresh, quality Xiao Long Bao and bowls of hot La Mian. As part of the Paradise identity, the wait staff is clad in traditional Chinese garments, reminiscent of times long ago in China.
Situated on the first floor of the mall, Paradise Dynasty boasts a design concept with China dynasty and history influences. The dark wood walls are built from railway sleepers and lit by yellow wall-paneled lights, providing a mystical yet serene and cozy ambience. An indoor stream snakes through the center of the restaurant, with the flowing water creating a balances, harmonious feel for diners.

Towards the ceiling, guests will be surprised to see themselves and the restaurant reflected in the polished bronze ceiling. The restaurant has the capacity to fit 180 people at any one time.
Seating is set up in sections and there are two semi-private rooms for diners who desire a sense of privacy and intimacy for mini get-together moments.
Xiao Long Bao (小笼包)
Many would flock to Paradise Dynasty for its world’s first Eight Flavors Xiao Long Bao. Having originated from Nan Xiang, the Xiao Long Bao is also known as soup dumplings as each dumpling contains a flavored broth. Paradise Dynasty’s version, prepared by Chef Yan Wei from Nanjing, China, has been adapted as a fusion dish. Its vibrantly coloured dumplings are of original, crab roe, cheese, garlic, ginseng, Szechuan and the diamonds of the kitchen – foir gars and black truffle.

“The hot broth in each of these dumplings is simply delicious – bite into one and relish the earthy flavours for yourself!”, said Elyna Tan enthusiastically.

The right way of eating Xiao Long Bao
  1.  Gently lift the soup dumpling from the basket to your spoon, placing extra care not to break the skin of the dumpling.
  2. Chew off a portion of the dumpling skin from the side to allow cooling of the soup broth and pork filling. (Note that the dumplings are very hot and do not eat the entire dumpling immediately to avoid scalding)
  3. Sip the soup broth from the opening you chewed off earlier.
  4. Complement with ginger slices and vinegar, you may now eat the dumpling.

Appetizer (凉菜)
There are also hot and cold appetisers – the unique Chilled Assorted Eggs Loaf in Yang Zhou style, and assorted beef and organs in Szechuan sauce.
Chilled Assorted Eggs Loaf in Yang Zhou Style
三色玛瑙蛋  RM12.80
Pure white salted egg on the top and  dark century egg on the bottom, and chill it before serving, The saltiness from salted egg well mingles with the fragrance from century egg. It is more special and outstanding by shaping and arranging it in flower.
Drunken Chicken 李白醉鸡  RM16
Another signature cold appetizer from Paradise Dynasty. I super like the texture of the chicken, which is extremely smooth and tender. Chinese wine is another soul of the dish, provides heavenly fragrance to the chicken, make it not only taste good but also smell good.

La Mian (拉面)
Paradise Dynasty also specializes in silky handmade La Mian (hand-pulled noodles), prepared by Chef Ge Sheng from Henan, China. Paradise Dynasty offers 18 types of La Mian, freshly prepared in full view of diners in the open kitchen, and usually served with an assortment of soups, sauces and ingredients.
Dried Shrimp & Scallion (Dry)
葱油拌面  RM12
It is just a bowl of Lamian with dried shrimp and scallion, comes together with a little bowl of chicken soup, reflecting the simple lifestyle in the bygone era. Even no supreme, fancy and expensive ingredients were used, it tastes even better than those costly and complicated delicacies.  A very comforting dish indeed, make me feel warm and contended.

La Mian in Signature Pork Bone Soup (猪骨汤拉面)
Highly recommend are the La Mian with sliced pork in signature pork bone soup, La Mian with braised pork belly in signature pork bone soup, and the piquant La Mian with poached marble beef in Szechuan style.

“The signature stock in which we serve the La Mian with is very important hence we labour over it with lots of love with ingredients like pork bone, pork ribs and whole chicken and it is simmered over slow fire fore 12 hours before being served” Elyna explains.

Szechuan Style La Mian with "Dan Dan" Sauce
 四川担担拉面  RM13.80
Their Szechuan style dishes were very authentic and original, by using the peppercorns imported from China. The fragrance from the peppercorns is very tempting but better be aware of the spiciness, it is really not kidding, tickle my tongue at first and make it numb afterwards.
Braised Pork Belly 红烧扣肉面  RM18.80
The Braised Pork Belly is served in a bowl with full Chinese character, they not only care about the quality of foods, but also meticulous in the presentation. As the soup is boiled for long hours, the soup itself contains all the essence and sweetness from the pork bone and chicken, I can't describe more on that, the taste of the soup is self-explanatory when you have a sip on it. Mot to forget the one of the main role in the dish, the braised pork belly is so tender and flavourful!
Pan-Fried Chicken Chop  香煎鸡扒面  RM16.80
The Pan-Fried Chicken Chop is supreme, with the crispy outer layer and the tender and juicy meat inside! I found fish maw in the soup, which is super soft and tender too!

Shanghai Dim Sum (上海点心)
Diners can also select from an extensive and affordable range of Shanghainese dim sum such as Steamed Tianjin buns, the light and flaky Radish pastry, and Pork dumplings with hot chili sauce.
Pan Fried Pork Dumpling
无锡鲜肉锅贴 (3pcs)  RM7.80
This is the best Pan Fried Pork Dumpling I ever had, the top of the dumplings remain moist, but the bottom part which had direct touch with pan is very crispy, the Chef is very skillful in doing this. I believed lean meat is used in perfecting the filling, not oily at all.
Radish Pastry 萝卜丝酥饼 (3pcs)  RM7.80
Radish Pastry is one of the best sellers, especially during weekends, so if you are craving for the snack, please be the early birds. The pastry is very well done, the texture of the pastry is extremely good because the multiples outer layers.

Warm reminder: Please enjoy the Radish Pastry slowly, or else you will get scalded by the hot and juicy radish inside yeah~
Steamed Tianjin Bun (3pcs)
天津狗不理包子  RM9
Steamed Tianjin Bun is a very traditional and famous pork bun from China since decades ago. However the one in Paradise Dynasty is definitely not just a normal pork bun, but very nice and delicious pork bun I would say, with the moist and juicy meat filling, where I can even slurp some broths from inside.

 Fried Dishes (家常小炒)
Then there are delectable mains that include the tender Braised pork belly, Wok fried sliced pork with sweet & sour sauce, and Deep-fried diced chicken in Szechuan style.
Scrambled Egg White with Fish and Dried Scallop
瑶柱芙蓉赛螃蟹  RM20
Another dish reflecting the poor and simple lifestyle in the past, a mother who tried to satisfy her daughter's desire to eat crab created the dish by scramble the egg white to certain level, and doused with some Chinese wine and seasoning to make it tasted like crabs. Surprisingly, the taste is really similar to real crab meat. The dish is improved nowadays by putting in scallops and fish to enhance the flavour from the sea.
Mix well with the egg yolk before tuck-in!The egg is silky smooth, good for skin I bet.
Sauteed French Bean with Minced Pork
 肉碎干煸四季豆  RM16
This is the portion of green on the night. The chef is very generous in putting the minced pork, Chinese mushroom was added I bet, because my tongue can sense some mushroom chunks hidden inside, makes it more fragrance. The french bean is very well-cooked too, retain the crisps and moist at the same time.
Braised Pork Belly 外婆红烧肉  RM26.80
"OMG, this is so greasy!" was my first impression for the braised pork belly because of the shine on the skin.  But it was different when I really have a bite on it, turned over my impression, (looking into my eyes and believe me) it was not oily at all after braised for long hours. The pork belly still remains the clear three layers, but the meat is very tender and juicy, where even a toothless grandma can bite into it easily. To balance up the dish, spinach is placed underneath the pork belly.
Deep Fried Diced Chicken in Szechuan Style
四川辣子鸡丁  RM20
A normal Szechuan Style dish which you can get from every Szechuan restaurant around Malaysia, but it would not be perfect without the dried chilies and peppercorns from China I would say. This is the place I tasted the original and authentic cuisine from Szechuan, because the owner and the chef is very particular in the ingredients used in order to bring the finest taste from China
.
Dessert (甜品)
Ending your meal on a sweet note is a must too because their unique desserts like Pan Fried Pumpkin Pasty will definitely get guests smacking their lips with delight. Also, Souffle egg white balls stuffed with red bean and Banana, Chilled aloe vera and osmanthus jelly in honey lemon juice, and Glutinous rice dumplings in fermented rice wine are a must-try.
Red Bean Pancake 香煎豆沙锅饼  RM8.80
The pancake is deep fried until golden and crispy. The sweetness of the red bean filling is just well adjusted, just right to me liking.
Pan-fried Pumpkin Pastry  香煎南瓜饼 (3pcs)  RM6.90
One of the best selling dessert in the restaurant, which is made from mashed pumpkin and deep fried it until golden brown in colour, and lastly sprinkle some sugar powder on the top. The natural orange colour from the pumpkin makes the pastry enhance the presentation and makes it looks more attractive.
Rice Ball with Grated Nut 擂沙汤圆  (4pcs)  RM8.80
Simple and traditional Chinese dessert, the cute and chewy rice ball coated with grated nuts, make it more crispy and fragrant.
The black sesame filling inside, simply delicious!
Souffle Egg White Balls stuffed with Red Bean and Banana
高丽豆沙 (3pcs)  RM8.00
The souffle egg white balls is super fluffy, the combination of red bean and banana sounds new to me, but the outcome was surprisingly good and match.
Chilled Almond Pudding 杏仁豆腐  RM6.80
Paradise Dynasty is also providing some cold dessert, chilled almond pudding is one of it. The texture is different from the normal pudding, which is more crunchy. I love cold dessert as it always gives the feel of refreshing and wash off the greasy and oil accumulated from a heavy meal, the almond pudding is not exceptional too. Thumbs up!

Nothing to complaint about the dishes served, all are heavenly delicious. We were pampered with good foods and good service until I thought and day-dreamed to be emperor on that night. Can I continue my dream?

On top of that, Paradise Dynasty will offer 10% offer their total bills to CIMB card holders*. This promotion is valid until 30 December 2012. * Terms & Conditions apply.
