Dragon-i Restaurant 籠的傳人 @ Queensbay Mall, Penang

Dragon-i Restaurant  籠的傳人 @ Queensbay Mall, Penang

While everyone were busy visiting each other to get their valuable angpau during CNY, I not follow the trend with my friends to pay visit one house to another house. Then what I did during long CNY holiday? One must be done during CNY festive was eat full and eat again. I eat any food at anywhere nearby me. Something regret is I am gaining fat, and my wallet getting thinner!
Heard of this Dragon-i, they have very fine "Xiao Long Bao" and La Mian in house. Therefore, I and my family again feast at here for major La Mian and some side dishes. After our taste, their La Mian is good and no single complaint on its.. Other side dishes like Xiao Long Bao, Egg Yolk Bun, Beijing Dumpling and meat dumpling are very good too.. Thumb up for a LIKE!
You may look through the whole process of La Mian making via their Open Kitchen concept just right in front of the entrance. This stage is very common now and most the restaurant doing this. I find out why. Its because most of the people like me were very curious, how the process of their La Mian from the kitchen to the table to consume, check whether hygienic or fresh ingredient they use.
The day I pay visit here was very crowded and packed.

Birthday Feast Marathon @ 1 Utama Shopping Center, PJ

Birthday Feast Marathon @ 1 Utama Shopping Center, PJ

Today is my girl's birthday, how to pamper her on the special day? Gonna celebrate and rock it by starting a marathon birthday at One Utama. Our first station is Nando's, since she was craving for nando's for long time and I got a RM50 cash voucher by chance, so we are here in Nando's for lunch.

First Station: Nando's
The Nando's in One Utama is really big and spacious to cater large amount of people, indoor and outdoor seat with green's view are available.
Crimson Cola  RM7.90
Enlighten her birthday by a special drink in Nando's menu. A Crimson Cola is special beverage which infused with sweet and punchy pomegranate that enhance Coca-Cola's caramel notes and garnished with pop-in-your-mouth pomegranate pops.
Peri Soup  RM5.90
Complimentary Peri soup, different from normal mushroom soup outside, it is more pepperish and spicy to reflect the "peri-spirit" of Nando's. Nice to open up the flavour.
1/4 Chicken with 2 sidelines  RM16.90
The meal for the birthday girl, with Peri chips and coleslaw. She enjoys it a lot, especially the fries with peri powder and the crispy roasted chicken. She loves spicy, but we ordered mild spicy level, too bold to try on the extra peri for first timer. She satisfied the roasted chicken and said it deserves the reputation, haha.
1/4 Chicken with 2 sidelines  RM16.90
My meal with Peri Corn and sweet potato, yeah, nothing to shout for the corn, it is the way too common and I expected it to be special a little bit. The sweet potatoes is quite surprise to me, cooked with various spices and herbs, make it spicy and flavourful.

Second Station: Hui Lau San Hong Kong Dessert 许留山港式甜点

We were having our high tea with dessert in the famous Hui Lau San.
A photo of us at Hui Lau San. Sweet mango desserts and sweet people! Do I look like Monkey King (Sun Wu Kong)  in "Journey to the West"? I found my talent in acting.
Mango Romance 芒之恋  RM12.90
The Mango Romance as birthday dessert. I like their mango dessert, because it is never too sweet, no extra sugar added, but derive the natural sweetness from the fruits itself. Pure and healthy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Third Station: Hokkaido Gantetsu Ramen
Went into Isetan to look for good Ramen as dinner. I was shocked by the shouting among the restaurants to attract customers. Wow, it is really competitive.At last, I chose Hokkaido Gantetsu Ramen, because I have tried the Menya Mushashi before. So I decided to give a chance to Hokkaido Ramen today.
Gantetsu Ramen is originated from Hokkaido which was established in the year 1008.
The Traditional recipe, natural resources and top grade ingredients from Hokkaido, such as miso, soya bean sauce and Japanese salt merge to form an extremely delicious and authentic taste of their signature "Great White Soup". With their Motto being "To Be Persistent and to not Compromise in Providing Outstanding Quality and Taste". They are the numerous Grand Award Winner in Japan.
Gantetsu Ramen is defineitely a Taste to remember and Truly makes them a different from any others.
It was Friday and the restaurant is not too crowded. The wooden design and furnitures provide Japanese traditional feels to the restaurant. The waiters standing out front of the restaurant will greet and welcome you loudly in Japanese when you step in the restaurant. OMG, they are so passionate people.
The menu is displayed outside the restaurant.
KING Charshu Tonkotsu  RM27.90
King Charshu Tonkotsu means extra Charshu and eggs are added to the Ramen. The waiter told us that there is no ajinomoto added, they only use pork bones and chicken to perfect the soup. So the soup is thick and taste sweet after long hours boiling. I like their Charshu which is tender and flavourful, the thickness of the Charshu was just nice.
Hokkaido Miso  RM22.90
My girl's Hokkaido Miso. This is the normal portion without extra meat and egg, girls should go for this portion. The soup base is equally good with a hint of ginger. The noodles itself is springy.
Deng~ Two of us with our Ramen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fourth Station: Meet Fresh 鲜芋仙

Heading to Meet Fresh to enjoy desserts after dinner. The dessert house is located in a quite hidden and remote alley in the mall. Erm, I am not really expert in describing the exact location, it is just nearby the famous Candylicious, have a walk there to find out yourself lar.
It is a place best to linger over sensational traditional desserts. The taro and tofu desserts, and the herbal jelly are all made from recipes originating from a typical Taiwanese farming family. The desserts are handmade on a daily basis using natural ingredients only to reflect the spirit of "Meet Fresh".
Contemporary and comfortable design in Meet Fresh, nice to have a seat here and chit chat with friends.
They modify the UFO thingy into rectangular shape.
Herb Jelly with White Gourd Tea 冬瓜仙草冻  RM4.90
The herb jelly and white gourd is good to wash down all the grease from heavy meaty meal, very refreshing.
Mung Bean with Honey Bean + Brown Sugar Glutinous Cake + Pearl
绿豆冰沙配上花豆+黑糖粉粿+珍珠  RM6.50
The brown sugar glutinous which looks like "Malay Kuih" is extremely good to chew on, I like the fragrance from the brown sugar. The Mung Bean ice is good too, I bet it is made from very dense and thick green bean soup, so that the texture of the ice is different from other Taiwanese desserts house, it is more to the green bean flavoured ice cream potong, every mouthful is flavourful. And I have to mention that Meet Fresh is never failed to give generous portion of toppings.

I hope she truly enjoy her birthday by having a food feast marathon in One Utama. Happy Birthday again to my Dear!

Restaurant De Hunan 湖南湘菜馆 @ Bandar Puteri Puchong, Puchong

Restaurant De Hunan 湖南湘菜馆 @ Bandar Puteri Puchong, Puchong

De Hunan lives up to its name, which brings the truly authentic Hunan's cuisine into Malaysia. Hunan is a province in China, which is famous with their hot and spicy delights. The new outlet in Bandar Puchong is their second and latest branch in Klang Valley, due to the overwhelming good responds from the crowd. I was lucky enough to be invited to try their genuine Huinan's cuisine on Wednesday night. Thanks for the owner and all foodies made it an enjoyable night. =)
The restaurant comprises two storeys, so it would be very spacious to cater a big crowd, so don't worry to get a table on weekends.
Some China and Hunan's elements are infused into the restaurant by placing a China "Shan Swee" (mountain and river) oil painting on the wall and the using of wooden dining tables and chairs.
An overview of second floor, besides public dining areas, the restaurant also provides few private rooms for meetings or family gathering, so that diners can enjoy their meal comfortably and without interruption.
This is one of the private room, with marble table and chairs, which provides extra elegant to it. Perfect for private hang out session.

Talking back to the foods, De Hunan is the ultimate destination for diners seeking distinctive and different choices, the place where we treasure the fresh food and mouth-watering Hunan classics here. The chef is very strict in picking ingredients, most of the ingredients come from its origin in China. Staying true to traditions, only the finest and freshest ingredients are used to create Hunan's cuisine.

The complimentary appetizers were served before the meal, includes beancurd skin, Japanese cucumbers, pig ears and seaweed.
All the appetizers were served in cold, but the spiciness of it definitely warmed my stomach since the very beginning. I specially like the marinated Japanese cucumber, spicy and sour, but indeed it was refreshing and crunchy to munch on.
Sliced pig ears is a rare appetizer to me, but I was quite surprised to its crunchy texture, very porkilicious. Not a pork lover? Feel free to try on their seaweed strips, fresh with the taste from the sea.
Hot Spicy Fresh Frog on Sizzling Stone "Hunan" Style
石锅生猛鲜田鸡
The hot spicy fresh frog was served piping hot, renders it looks more tempting with the boiling gravy on the sizzling stone. The chillies used are imported from China, so look out with its spiciness. The frog flesh is extremely tender and flavourful with the hot gravy clinging on it. The dish would not be perfect without a steamed white rice.
Stir Fried "Beijing" Cabbage
平锅北京包菜
The cabbage looks common, but it is very delicious with a hint of spiciness from the dried chillies. Very well cooked to retain its crunchiness of the vegetables.
Hunan "Yuen & Yang" Style Fish Head
招牌鸳鸯鱼头
The Yuen Yang Style Fish Head is made by two distinct cooking methods, combines two flavours in a dish, sounds like very worth for the price. Only the freshest fish as well as natural ingredients like chilies, gingers, garlics and spring onion are used in perfect the dish. Therefore the fish is tasted good and smooth, suit to my liking as a fish lover.
The fish head is also served with home made La Mian, to avoid wastage of every single drop of the spicy gravy. The gravy contains the essence of the fish, therefore immerse the noodles into it before eat to get the flavour from the sea.
"Uncle Mao's" Special Braised Pork
毛家红烧肉
I was attracted by its appealing presentation at the first glance, opened up my flavours simply looking at it, cannot resist myself from savouring it, without bothering my-growing-bigger-stomach. The chef must be very skilful in making it, or perhaps the long hours braising makes the fat drips away while all the marinade flavour is sealed right in.
Stir Fried Cubed Beef on Flat Pot
平锅牛仔粒
The beef cubes are cooked just right, remains tender and juicy, without any sense of rubbery. The spicy flavour is simply tantalizing and goes well with my white rice.
Fried Spicy Deer Meat in Special Hot Stones Style
特色石头烹鹿肉
The deer meat is cooked well, makes it not gamey at all. Some portion of greens are added into the dish to balance up its nutrients. The spiciness is mild, compared to some of the others, the level of mine, keep the stomach warm without agitating it.
Pork Spare Ribs and Corn Soup
玉米炖排骨瓦罐炜汤
A very homey cooking soup indeed, the long hours cooking renders it tastes sweet and flavourful, essence from spare ribs and corns. Good to keep my fussy stomach happy.
Stewed Beancurd with Green Chives
韭菜焖豆腐
The combination of beancurd with green chives introduces my taste bud to a new Hunan's flavour. The beancurd is silky smooth, the soup with a hint of green chives is mixed and matched well with my rice.
Sauteed Prawns in Hunan Claypot Style
干锅馋嘴虾
The prawn is first deep fried into golden brown and sauteed with Hunan Chilies sauce, to make sure that every prawns are clinging with the flavourful and tangy hot sauce. The chef made a cut on the back of the prawn to convenience the diners, so eating prawn with shell is no longer a tough job.
Spicy Skewered Prawns in "Hunan" Special Style
 道地湖南串烧虾
Another prawn delight to satisfy the taste bud of prawn lovers. Various spices are used to enhance the flavour of the the prawn and establish the identity of Hunan's delights. The prawn is skewered to grill until crispy, so that I could finish the prawn from its head to the end.
Baked Pumpkin with Salted Egg Yolk
咸蛋黄焗南瓜

The pumpkin slices is clothed with salted egg yolk, deep fried into attractive golden brown. Surprisingly, the pumpkin is not too salty, I wonder how the chef remain the fragrance of the salted egg while eliminating the saltiness from it, must be a piece of art from an experienced chef I bet.

Beside those hot and spicy dishes, De Hunan also has an amazing array of both hot and cold, traditional and modern selection of desserts to satisfy the sweet tooth.
Home made Potato Pancake
香甜土豆饼
One of the recommended dessert is the homemade potato pancake, the potato is mashed and deep-fried and condensed milk is served along. Crispy on the outside, yet soft and chewy on the inside, it's perfect snack with condensed-milk-dipped. The condensed milk is served separately and optional, so that diner can adjust the sweetness to their liking.
Pumpkin and Sago Dessert Soup
黄金珍珠露
Pumpkin and sago dessert is another healthy dessert. I like the natural yellow colour derived from the pumpkin itself. The soup itself is very smooth and fine in texture, the pumpkin puree and sago simply make it more interesting.

I should admit that I left De Hunan with a bellyful of contentment, I truly enjoy the authenticity and genuine flavour all the way from Hunan, because  De Hunan dishes up great tasting meals in quite generous portion as a mark of quality and value. I was definitely pampered with ample choices of mouth-watering Hunan cuisine on that night.
